Motorcyclist killed as cannabis-impaired driver veers into oncoming lane in Negeri Sembilan
A 28-year-old motorcyclist died instantly in a late-night crash on the Seremban–Kuala Pilah road after a car driven by a man later found to be under the influence of cannabis lost control and crossed into his path
A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a collision with a car driven by a man who later tested positive for cannabis after the vehicle reportedly lost control and entered the opposite lane along a major stretch of road here on Sunday night.
The crash occurred at about 11.10pm at Kilometre 23 of Jalan Seremban–Kuala Pilah. The victim, a 28-year-old man who worked as a food stall assistant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said the collision involved a Perodua Viva and a Honda motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred when the Perodua Viva was travelling from Seremban towards Felda Keratong, Rompin, Pahang.
Upon reaching the location, the car driver is said to have lost control and entered the lane of a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction,” he said in a statement today.
He said the motorcyclist was unable to take evasive action before the impact occurred.
“As a result of this accident, a 28-year-old man, who was the motorcyclist, was confirmed dead at the scene, while a 23-year-old man, who was the car driver, sustained minor injuries,” he said.
Police later conducted an initial urine screening on the car driver, which showed a positive result for THC, the active compound found in cannabis.
The man was detained for further investigation by the Kuala Pilah District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. - December 31, 2025
