THE Sabah state government is ready to move forward with the holistic and inclusive Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development plan to ensure sustained prosperity and to shape a brighter, more competitive future for the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the new phase of the development blueprint would build on the achievements of the SMJ 1.0 roadmap, which laid strong foundations and delivered consistent progress throughout the current state administration.

He said 2026 marks a new chapter for Sabah as the state continues to advance with renewed determination and a strong sense of unity among its people.

“Looking back at 2025, it was a good year, built on a solid development foundation and consistent progress through the implementation of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 development roadmap,” he said.

“The state government will continue on this path through the SMJ 2.0 roadmap, strengthening our commitment to unity, prosperity and inclusive development, so that the progress achieved can be enjoyed fairly by all Sabahans,” he added in his New Year 2026 message delivered here on Wednesday.

Hajiji also expressed his appreciation to the people of Sabah for granting the state government a fresh mandate to continue leading the state.

“We truly value this trust and support, and it is a great responsibility that we will carry out with full accountability and responsibility,” he said.

“With this renewed mandate, the state government remains committed to strengthening governance, ensuring continued political stability, and driving comprehensive development for the well-being of the people,” he added.

He said sustained efforts over the past five years to foster stability and create a conducive environment for growth had produced tangible results and brought benefits to the state.

At the same time, Hajiji conveyed his hope that all Sabahans would be blessed with good health, well-being and success in the year ahead.

“Together with my fellow state Cabinet colleagues, I sincerely wish everyone a happy New Year,” he said. - December 31, 2025
