INDERA Mahkota Member of Parliament Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has accused Bersatu’s disciplinary authorities of denying him a fair hearing before expelling him from the party on 6 January 2026.
The former member of Bersatu’s Central Leadership Council (MPT) said he submitted three specific demands to the party’s Disciplinary Board during a summons on 6 November last year, all of which he claims were ignored.
“The first demand requested that two members of the Disciplinary Board recuse themselves from adjudicating my case, as they were alleged to have personal and familial ties to senior party leaders,” Saifuddin explained in a statement.
His second demand sought clarification on the identities of the investigators and prosecutors handling his case.
“It was crucial to establish that the parties making the charges and the board members deciding on them were separate individuals, ensuring I received proper justice,” he said.
The third demand requested that BERSATU President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin attend the proceedings, but Saifuddin said the board did not respond.
He added that a reply from the Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Mohammed Radzi Manan, indicated the investigation was conducted unfairly and violated the principles of natural justice and a fair trial.
“I requested a new hearing session that fulfills all three of my demands. If these are met, I am willing to attend and fully cooperate with the Disciplinary Board,” he said.
Despite these requests, Saifuddin said he received the official notice of expulsion on 6 January, citing a breach of Clause 9.1.4 of the BERSATU Constitution, with no further explanation.
“I believe, according to the principles of natural justice, I am entitled to a fair proceeding. Until 6 January 2026, I received no information from the Disciplinary Board,” he said.
Saifuddin also confirmed that he intends to appeal the expulsion decision, signalling a continued dispute over the party’s disciplinary process and raising broader questions about internal governance within BERSATU. - January 7, 2025
