A WOMAN being sought by the Royal Malaysia Police is believed to be the principal mastermind behind a drug syndicate linked to the seizure of cannabis flowers worth RM1.82 million last week, with investigators suspecting she operated under the cover of a food business to conceal her illegal activities.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspect, a woman in her 30s known as “Luna”, is also believed to lead a lavish lifestyle and to have played a central role in the syndicate’s operations.
“Previously, I was informed that the suspect owned a food outlet in Kota Bharu, but the premises have since been closed. We do not rule out the possibility that she used the eatery as a front to conceal her illegal activities and avoid detection,” he said.
Mohd Yusoff added that the woman is believed to hold dual citizenship and frequently travels between Kelantan and Thailand.
“The woman also has two citizenships, and she moves back and forth between Kelantan and Thailand.
“Based on social media, the woman also portrays a luxurious lifestyle and is believed to have been masterminding drug-related activities since 2024,” he said when contacted.
Earlier reports stated that police were hunting for a woman in her 30s believed to be the head of a drug trafficking syndicate following the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of cannabis flowers worth RM1.82 million in Kuala Krai last week.
The alleged syndicate leader is said to be a woman with dual citizenship who is based in a neighbouring country.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan was reported as saying that the seizure was the result of a four-month operation by the department under Ops Agas, which revealed that the confiscated cannabis flowers were believed to be intended for the international market.
Following the discovery, Bukit Aman has sought the assistance of the Thai police to track down “Luna”, although no further developments have been reported to date. - January 13, 2026
