A STUDENT who was among those injured in yesterday's explosion at a private university in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, is still in a coma due to internal injuries and a skull fracture.

Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, said the victim is 19-years-old and from Johor Bahru.

"The victim is under close observation by doctors at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Two other victims who are still being treated are a 54-year-old contractor and a 22-year-old Indonesian university canteen worker.

"The supervisor is in a semi-conscious state with injuries, including metal fragments in his body, while awaiting surgery at HKL, while the canteen worker is still at Sungai Buloh Hospital for monitoring and treatment," he said in a statement.

He said that six other victims, however, were allowed to leave after receiving treatment.

In the air conditioning gas explosion incident at about 11.40 am, a man was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at HKL, while nine others were injured.

Fadil reportedly said that the 24-year-old victim who died at the private university was undergoing Industrial Training (IT). – January 13, 2026
