THE Ministry of Communications is set to meet with representatives from X this afternoon to discuss issues concerning the Grok artificial intelligence application.
Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil told reporters that the meeting would focus on obtaining further clarification from the company and exploring the next steps regarding the app.
“I welcome X’s approach in beginning to address the feedback received from various countries and governments. They have also initiated several changes to the Grok application,” he said after attending the launch of autonomous vehicles in the capital today.
Fahmi added that a formal statement on the outcomes of the meeting would be issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission once discussions are concluded.
He stressed that the steps taken by X reflect the company’s willingness to adapt its application in response to international feedback, taking into account the sensitivities and requirements of different stakeholders.
Previously, the MCMC had reportedly been reviewing the Grok application and its AI services after certain prompt-based editing functions were deactivated by the platform.
The move followed directives from the commission to temporarily block access to Grok AI in Malaysia, prompted by repeated misuse of the platform to generate explicit content and manipulated images without consent. - January 21, 2026
