A TOP Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officer who was recently detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in a corruption investigation is expected to be charged tomorrow.

According to a Berita Harian report, the charge is expected after the MACC submitted an investigation paper for Ops Parasit to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) last Monday.

Previously, the 58-year-old high-ranking officer and two of his family members were detained by the MACC to complete an investigation into the ATM procurement tender case.

During Ops Parasit, the MACC on January 7 arrested a high-ranking officer and his two wives in connection with the Army tender procurement project.

The next day, the officer was remanded for seven days, while his two wives were remanded for three and six days respectively.

Since December 23 last year, the MACC investigation began when the agency appeared at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) to begin preliminary investigations into several projects involving the Army since 2023.

Currently, the MACC has completed it, and the investigation papers have also been submitted to the public prosecutor.

MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, when contacted, confirmed that they had submitted the investigation papers for Ops Parasit and Ops Star to the AGC for further action. – January 21, 2026
