THE third wife of former Malaysian Army Chief Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan was formally charged today in the Sessions Court here with four counts of corruption involving RM77,000, mirroring the legal troubles faced by her husband.
Salwani Anuar, 27, who is also employed as a security officer for a company, pleaded not guilty to the charges, following the earlier court appearance of her husband in a separate hearing.
According to the charges, Salwani is accused of receiving funds from illegal activities, including sums of RM50,000, RM7,000, and RM10,000 on two occasions, all of which were deposited into the company’s bank account.
The alleged offences took place at a bank in Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur, between November 24, 2024, and November 25, 2025.
She faces charges under Subsection 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001, read together with Section 87(1)(a) of the same Act, and punishable under Subsection 4(1).
If convicted, Salwani could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of no less than five times the value of the illicit funds or RM5 million, whichever is higher.
The case highlights ongoing investigations into the former army chief and his family, part of a broader probe into alleged corruption and the laundering of proceeds from illegal activities in Malaysia. - January 22, 2026
