A 22-YEAR-OLD eatery assistant pleaded not guilty today in the Seremban Sessions Court to charges of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl three years ago.

Nur Hafiz Noor Hamidi, who was 19 at the time of the alleged offence, made his plea before Judge Datin Surita Budin after the charge was formally read in court.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on 9 December 2023 at approximately 11.35 p.m. near a petrol station on Jalan Sungai Gadut in Seremban.

He is accused of committing the offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code, which carries severe penalties upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi offered bail of RM15,000 with one surety and additional conditions, noting that the accused and the victim were acquaintances.

Nur Hafiz, unrepresented by legal counsel, requested a lower bail amount, citing his father’s struggle with lung cancer following a recent hospital discharge and his grandmother’s critical health condition.

He stated that he worked in a small eatery, had three younger siblings, and was the primary caregiver for both his father and grandmother.

The court ultimately granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety, imposing strict conditions that the accused must not harass the victim or any prosecution witnesses and must report to the nearest police station monthly until the conclusion of the trial.

The case is scheduled for further mention on 10 March. - January 22, 2026
