ARMED Forces Joint Forces Headquarters chief of staff Major General Datuk Mohamed Fauzi Kamis was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today with criminal breach of trust involving the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT) worth RM5 million.
Mohamed Fauzi, 56, however, pleaded not guilty as soon as the charge was read out before Judge Suzana Hussin.
"Understanding the charge, I plead not guilty and request to be tried," he said wearing a dark blue coat from inside the dock.
According to the charge, he as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel Services (AKSPA) and Chairman of the TKAT Investment Committee was charged with committing criminal breach of trust on TKAT property amounting to RM5 million by making additional investments in a company, without obtaining the approval of the TKAT Investment Committee.
The offence was allegedly committed by the accused at the Ministry of Defence on November 27, 2023.
If convicted, he could be punished under Section 409 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of between two and 20 years, whipping and a fine.
Earlier, he arrived at the Sessions Court, in Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Neatly dressed in a dark blue suit, he smiled at the media while briefly greeting them: "How are you today?" before raising his hand in a brief salute as he entered the courtroom.
The situation in the court was orderly, with members of the public, court officers and media representatives filling the gallery. – January 30, 2026
