THE Ziarah MADANI programme carried out ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations underscores the government’s concern for the welfare of Malaysia’s multiracial society, Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi said.
He said the initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with the public and to hear first-hand the concerns faced by communities at the grassroots level.
“Through this on-the-ground approach, every opportunity is used to interact directly with the families involved while gaining a deeper understanding of their daily challenges, particularly issues related to the cost of living, health and family welfare.
“As a gesture of care and support, each family visited received financial assistance of RM500 from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to help ease the burden of preparing for the Chinese New Year celebrations,” he said in a statement today.
The programme, conducted last week, involved visits to 10 households registered under the e-Kasih system within the Indera Mahkota parliamentary constituency, specifically in the Semambu state constituency.
Those present included Semambu assemblyman Chan Chun Kuang and Pahang State Development Office director Datuk Razihan Adzharuddin from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.
Officers from the Social Welfare Department also took part in the visits, carrying out assessments and identifying potential forms of assistance that could be extended to the recipients.
Ahmad Farhan said the Ziarah MADANI initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that the welfare of the people remains a priority, irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
“The spirit of togetherness and harmony within our plural society must continue to be nurtured and strengthened. The approach of listening, understanding and acting directly on the ground will continue to be reinforced as the foundation of governance rooted in compassion, empathy and social justice,” he said. - January 31, 2026
