THE number of transactions generated through the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, fraud cases involving sales and purchase transactions and the latest initiatives to expand the scope of social protection are among the issues to be discussed in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Based on the Order Paper on Parliament’s official website, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH-Sekijang) will pose a question to the finance minister on the total allocation for SARA channelled through the MyKasih system spent throughout 2025, and the actual value of transactions generated in the domestic market during the Minister’s Question Time.

Dr Zaliha also wants to know the status of unspent amounts among recipients up to the expiry date of Dec 31, 2025, and plans to improve the system for 2026, reports Bernama.

In the same session, Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) will ask the Human Resources Minister to state the government’s assurance that the placement of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) under the ministry would not affect the interests, welfare and effectiveness of the implementation of agendas related to the Indian community.

Meanwhile, V. Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) will ask the National Unity Minister whether the government plans to establish a mechanism or coordinating body at the national level to manage and coordinate matters relating to religions other than Islam, particularly on issues involving governance of houses of worship, legal compliance, mediation of community conflicts and interfaith harmony.

During the question-and-answer session, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PNHulu Terengganu) will pose a question to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister on the number of fraud cases involving sales and purchase transactions reported from 2023 to date and the number of cases taken to court during the period, as well as the types of penalties imposed.

Also listed is a question by Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BNPekan) to the Human Resources Minister on the latest initiatives to expand the scope of social protection to workers, including gig, contract and part-time workers who remain marginalised.

After the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will continue with the winding-up of the debate on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address by the relevant ministries.

The Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to run for 20 days until March 3. – February 5, 2026
