THE PONTIAN Health Office (PKD) has confirmed that a male student in this district has tested positive for Tuberculosis (TB).
This is the first case of TB infection involving a school student in this district after six students in Kota Tinggi tested positive for the disease last week.
Johor Education and Information Committee Chairman Aznan Tamin said that PKD has informed that immediate action has been taken as part of standard disease control measures.
“PKD Pontian has identified all close contacts, and they have been asked to come to the Pontian Health Clinic to undergo health screening according to the procedures and guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
“As an initial preventive measure, sanitation and thorough cleaning will be carried out in areas identified as at risk,” he said in a statement today.
Last Thursday, six students in Kota Tinggi were confirmed to have tuberculosis as a result of close contact screening carried out by the MOH.
The situation in the locality reported in Kota Tinggi is under control, with all students involved now receiving treatment and close monitoring.
Aznan reminded all schools to always comply with the MOH’s instructions and guidelines to ensure a safe learning environment.
