DEPUTY Bersatu President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin will be unable to attend a disciplinary board hearing scheduled for tomorrow, with his office confirming that he is abroad in Sydney, Australia.
Ahmad Ikhwan Fadhli, Hamzah’s private secretary, stated that the Larut MP travelled to Australia to assist his daughter with university registration prior to receiving a notice on 7 February requiring his presence at the party’s disciplinary proceedings.
“He immediately informed the Disciplinary Board that he would be unable to attend,” Ahmad Ikhwan said.
Hamzah had previously notified the Speaker of the House, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, on 4 February that he would be absent from parliamentary sittings from 5 to 13 February.
The disciplinary proceedings relate to allegations of Hamzah’s involvement in disruptions during Bersatu’s Annual General Assembly and actions against the party president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to a second summons issued by Disciplinary Board Chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan on 6 February, four separate complaints have been filed against Hamzah, dating from 30 September last year and 5 February this year.
The complaints allege that Hamzah failed to prevent party leaders and members from issuing statements attacking Muhyiddin and tarnishing BERSATU’s image.
He is also accused of engaging in discussions with component party presidents within the Perikatan Nasional coalition without the party’s mandate, including matters concerning the PN Executive Council rejected by BERSATU’s Political Bureau and Supreme Leadership Council.
Additionally, Hamzah is alleged to have damaged Muhyiddin’s reputation by publicly noting that he was not invited to a meeting involving a PN component party president on 28 January.
The disciplinary board had previously scheduled a session for Hamzah to provide his account regarding these complaints at BERSATU’s headquarters. - February 11, 2026
