A STEPFATHER suspected of abusing a four-year-old girl was arrested by police on December 20 last year.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received a report of the incident from the victim's 27-year-old mother at around 1.48 pm, a day before the arrest was made.

According to Fadil, the incident is believed to have occurred at a residence around Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

“The victim’s mother saw several video recordings that showed the suspect committing mental and physical abuse against the child.

“The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001,” he said in a statement today.

He said the 32-year-old man arrested is the victim’s stepfather.

He said the suspect was later charged in the Kuala Lumpur Court on December 26 last year.

Earlier, police detected a viral video uploaded by the owner of the Capricedaddycap account, showing a man hitting, abusing and kicking the child and ordering her to run back and forth.

Fadil urged the public to immediately file a police report on any abuse cases, especially involving children. – February 19, 2026
