ANYONE found to be part of an effort to overthrow the government and disturb the nation's stability will have to answer to the law, no matter their status or background, according to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).

“We will fully cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to ensure that all necessary legal procedures are followed in accordance with the Federal Constitution and the principle of the rule of law,” it said in a statement today.

The AGC made this statement after Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that the police are looking into a report regarding a conspiracy to topple the government.

“Any actions or plans that include elements of disturbing public order, political stability, and national security are issues that impact the core of a parliamentary democracy and the rule of law,” it noted.

The AGC emphasised that all investigations must be conducted thoroughly and professionally, without any outside interference. “

Any prosecution decisions will be made independently and objectively, based on facts, statements, and legal considerations,” it added. – February 27, 2026
