THREE school students lost their lives, including one who suffered a severed leg, while a young man sustained serious injuries in a multiple motorcycle collision on Jalan Tambak Paya in the early hours of this morning.

Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, reported that the accident occurred at 4:02 a.m., claiming the lives of two male students aged 15 and 16, as well as a 16-year-old female student, all of whom suffered severe head injuries.

An 18-year-old male involved in the crash was critically injured, receiving treatment in the hospital’s red zone for severe trauma to his head, leg, and arm.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 18-year-old, riding a Yamaha Y16, and the 15-year-old male student on a Yamaha 15 ZR, were travelling from Bukit Katil towards Tiang Dua when the collision occurred.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the Yamaha 15 ZR ridden by a 16-year-old male student with a 16-year-old female passenger travelling from Tiang Dua to Bukit Katil collided with the other two motorcycles,” Christopher Patit stated as reported by Berita Harian.

“As a result of the impact, the three students were pronounced dead at the scene, while the young man sustained serious injuries.”

The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Forensic Department at Melaka Hospital, while the seriously injured individual is receiving treatment in the same hospital’s red zone.

“All motorcycles involved in the accident have been seized for inspection at Puspakom,” he added.

“Further investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ 9187).”

The incident has drawn public attention after images circulated online showing victims thrown onto the road and motorcycles severely damaged. - February 28, 2026
