A 37-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a tragic accident when the lorry he was attempting to stop rolled forward and struck him outside his home in Jalan Delima, Felda Bukit Besar, early on Saturday evening.

Mohd Rizwan Osman reportedly tried to prevent the Nissan Rigid Dumper/Tipper from moving after forgetting to engage the handbrake following the evening meal to break his fast.

“The lorry was parked in front of the house, but because the handbrake was not applied, it began to move forward.

“The victim tried to stop it, but was struck by the vehicle, sustaining severe internal injuries and dying at the scene,” said Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman in a statement.

Emergency services were alerted at 7.45pm by members of the public. Senior Fire Officer Mohd Norul Fazuddin Shapie of Bandar Tenggara Fire and Rescue Station said, “A one-tonne lorry hit an adult man, the driver who tried to stop his own lorry while it was moving.

The victim was trapped underneath, and the firemen assisted health authorities in removing him.”

The body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for an autopsy, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - March 1, 2026
