POLICE are investigating two separate shooting incidents in Selangor and Terengganu that left a man seriously injured in Klang and a 10-year-old boy wounded in Kemaman.
In the Klang incident, Selangor police confirmed that a man sustained serious injuries after being shot during a morning attack in Taman Sri Kapar.
The suspected gunmen, who were travelling on a motorcycle, were later injured after their vehicle was rammed by a member of the public who witnessed the incident.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said preliminary investigations indicated that two men on a motorcycle fired several shots at a lorry driver.
“I can confirm the incident occurred. Following the gunfire, it is believed that another vehicle, which witnessed the event, rammed the motorcycle believed to have discharged the shots, injuring the suspects,” he said.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 9.00 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. respectively.
Police forensic teams and investigators from the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters were still at the scene conducting examinations.
Authorities have yet to confirm the identities or ages of the suspects, as well as the motive behind the attack.
“After the forensic work is completed on-site, we will be able to verify the identities, any seizures, and determine the motive behind the incident,” Shazeli added.
Footage circulating on social media showed a man lying on the ground while police officers carried out investigations at the scene.
In a separate incident in Kemaman, Terengganu, a 10-year-old boy was injured after being struck by what is believed to be a projectile fired from an air rifle by a neighbour in Felda Seberang Tayor yesterday afternoon.
The boy suffered an injury to the left side of his back beneath the shoulder.
Kemaman District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Razi Rosli said the child had been playing outside with his older brother when he suddenly heard a loud sound and felt pain.
“The victim cried immediately after being hit, and his parents found redness on his back. They also discovered a small metal ball in front of their home, suspected to have been used as ammunition for an air rifle by the neighbour,” he said.
Police arrested a 58-year-old farm labourer after a report was lodged at around 5 p.m.
Officers seized two homemade air rifles measuring 123 centimetres and 107 centimetres, along with nine metal ball bearings believed to have been used as ammunition.
According to Mohd Razi, the suspect admitted to firing a single shot towards the victim’s house, which was located about 40 metres away, but claimed he did not intend to injure anyone.
He told investigators that one of the air rifles had been purchased online last year while the other was self-made for bird hunting.
The injured child was taken to Kemaman Hospital for further treatment.
A urine test conducted on the suspect, who has ten previous records related to criminal and drug offences, returned positive for morphine.
He has been remanded for four days while investigations proceed under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 324 of the Penal Code.
Authorities said investigations into both incidents are ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the cases. - March 5, 2026
