THE move by PKR to file a suit against 16 of its former elected representatives sends a clear message that any party candidate must not break their promise after signing a bond before contesting.
PKR Information Chief, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said that every candidate, including himself, signed a bond with the party which stipulates that action can be taken if the conditions are violated.
"This is a follow-up action to the decision the party received when the party (PKR) sued Datuk Zuraida Kamarudin (former PKR Vice President), and we activated the clause.
“All party candidates before GE14 signed a bond with the party, including me.
"If the bond is broken, then these are the consequences.
"After we saw a precedent in the Zuraida case, it is now time for us to take action against all those who have betrayed us," he said today.
Earlier, PKR filed a suit against 16 former Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen (ADUN) for allegedly violating the terms of a RM10 million bond after they left the party they represented when they won seats in the 14th GE.
The suit for allegedly violating the bond terms was filed by PKR Secretary-General Fuziah Salleh, on behalf of the party as the plaintiff in two separate actions, on 19 and 27 February, respectively.
Case management for both suits was set for 17 and 27 March. – March 7, 2026
