FIRM action will be taken against any individual who deliberately threatens national peace and the well-being of the people, particularly on matters involving religion, race and the monarchy (3R) - said Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
The Human Resources Minister affirmed that there has been a worrying rise in statements, social media posts and online comments aimed at provoking racial tensions, which could weaken the country’s unity and social harmony.
“The principles of constitutional supremacy and the rule of law play a crucial role in ensuring that the country remains peaceful, stable and harmonious.”
“As such, freedom of speech must not be misused to create divisions or incite hostility among communities,” he said.
The PKR MP acknowledged that the situation is increasingly concerning as Malaysia’s long-standing harmony is being exploited by certain parties for narrow political interests.
“Malaysians have long demonstrated that differences in ethnicity, culture and background are not barriers to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.”
“This spirit of unity has enabled the country to progress and develop over the decades,” he added.
Malaysia is home to a diverse population comprising Malays, Chinese, Indians, Iban and Kadazan.
Meanwhile, Ramanan claimed that when there are no major issues to challenge the government’s achievements, certain groups — driven by incentives or personal gain — act as provocateurs by stirring racial sentiments, inciting tensions and spreading hatred in pursuit of specific agendas.
The Sungai Buloh MP added that the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has demonstrated policy stability, the courage to implement reforms and the confidence of the public.
He said this is evident through initiatives such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) and the Budi95 petrol programme.
Ramanan added that domestically, the country’s economy continues to strengthen through quality investments, job creation and policies focused on inclusive growth.
He also highlighted that Malaysia recorded a record-high RM426.7 billion in approved investments, which are expected to create 244,902 quality job opportunities — achievements that will directly benefit the people. – March 10, 2026
