THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) intensified its efforts to combat black-market trading of subsidised goods by conducting a special operation under OPS GASAK at a residential premises in Putrajaya on 9 March 2026.
The property was suspected of storing subsidised cooking oil for unauthorised commercial sale.
The enforcement action followed complaints received by KPDN’s Enforcement Division regarding the illegal stockpiling of controlled goods at a two-storey home.
Upon arriving at the location, officers found the premises unguarded and empty. A thorough inspection of the property and surrounding areas was carried out before the team examined a vehicle parked on the premises.
The search uncovered 78 boxes of one-kilogram cooking oil packets, each containing 17 packets, amounting to a total of approximately 1,326 kilograms.
The seized cooking oil is believed to have been stored with the intention of conducting commercial transactions without approval from the Supply Controller. The estimated value of the confiscated goods is RM5,569.20.
A local man arrived at the scene and identified himself as the son of the property owner. Statements regarding the premises inspection and the seizure were issued to him for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961 [Act 122] read together with Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1974, which addresses the offence of possessing controlled goods with the intent to trade without a valid licence from the Supply Controller.
KPDN Enforcement Director-General Datuk Azman bin Adam emphasised that the ministry will continue to intensify enforcement operations nationwide to curb any form of diversion of subsidised controlled goods that may harm consumers and result in leakage of government subsidies.
He urged the public to report any suspected illegal activities involving controlled goods through official KPDN channels, including WhatsApp at 019-848 8000, the e-Aduan portal at [http://eaduan.kpdn.gov.my](http://eaduan.kpdn.gov.my), the call centre at 1-800-886-800, and the Ez ADU KPDN smartphone application.
