BARISAN Nasional (BN) Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi described the cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) as an understanding and not an agreement or consensus.
Ahmad Zahid said the coalition believed that through this tactical move, with BN contesting in 25 seats and PN in 11 seats, BN would once again seize Negeri Sembilan.
"We will ensure that this coordination is not an agreement, but an understanding.
"This understanding is quite important for us because we used to only have 14 seats won under BN.
"God willing, with this tactical move we are taking, Negeri Sembilan will be governed by BN again.
"This blue wave has come to Negeri Sembilan, God willing," he said.
Last Wednesday, BN announced 25 out of a total of 36 candidates to represent the coalition in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
Mohamad announced that 11 more seats would be done later because BN had reached an understanding with a 'friend' who could be trusted in this state election.
The next day, PN announced its candidates to fill the 11 vacancies, involving five candidates from PAS, four from Wawasan and one each from Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP).
At the same time, Ahmad Zahid also called on the BN machinery to work hard to ensure the success of Mohamad or better known as Tok Mat, with a higher majority, in addition to the BN candidates in the Chembong and Kota state constituencies.
"Hopefully with the new way and spirit, the blue wave that is coming, we pray and we work so the majority is higher,” he added. – July 18, 2026
