AIDILFITRI celebrations turned tragic for one family after three two-storey terraced houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Bunut Payong here this morning.

The blaze, which broke out at 8.27am, completely razed two of the homes while a third was about 80 per cent damaged.

A spokesperson for the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department said the department received an emergency call at 8.27am and immediately mobilised fire engines from Kota Bharu, Tunjung and a tanker unit from Pengkalan Chepa to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the operational team found that the fire involved three two-storey terraced houses.

“Two of the terraced houses were completely destroyed, while another was about 80 per cent damaged. However, no casualties were involved.

“Firefighting operations are ongoing,” he said. - March 21, 2026
