THE Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi, has lauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for what he described as a courageous and principled stance in the face of ongoing attacks allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

In a statement issued on Monday, Nasrabadi said Anwar’s leadership signalled alignment with “the right side of history” and would enhance Malaysia’s diplomatic standing.

“History will judge such wisdom fairly, and the people of Iran will never forget the supportive stance of the Malaysian government and its people,” he said.

He urged the international community to speak out against what he characterised as war crimes by the United States and Israel, cautioning that silence would amount to complicity.

“The international community must not remain indifferent. Silence in the face of such actions is complicity. Targeting civilian infrastructure must be condemned unequivocally, without hesitation or double standards.

“If such actions are allowed to continue without scrutiny, the sovereignty of any nation — and the safety of any civilian — will not be guaranteed. If they can commit such crimes against one country, they can do the same to others unless they are held accountable,” he said.

The envoy condemned strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities, steel plants, hospitals, universities, schools, residential buildings and bridges, describing them as clear violations of international law rather than acts of self-defence.

He also warned of the risks associated with repeated targeting of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, noting that any damage could have catastrophic consequences beyond Iran’s borders.

Nasrabadi expressed concern over what he called “extreme” threats by United States President Donald Trump to attack Iranian infrastructure should the Strait of Hormuz remain closed.

“When a leader openly speaks about sending a country ‘back to the Stone Age’, it reveals true intent. It signals a willingness to inflict suffering on civilians on an unimaginable scale. These are not words that can be ignored. They are a warning,” he said. - April 7, 2026
