THE late former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin's daughter, Asnida Daim, pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to a charge of failing to declare her assets.

The 65-year-old was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act with failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice from the anti-graft agency.

She made the plea when the charge was read to her before Judge Rosli Ahmad today.

She is accused of intentionally furnishing a written statement on oath which did not comply with the terms of a notice issued under Section 36(1)(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act, which was served to her on Nov 14, 2023.

Among the assets are shareholdings in five companies, namely Amiraz Sdn Bhd, Arida Farms Sdn Bhd, Kangkung Catering Sdn Bhd, Transgrade Sdn Bhd and Gajah3 Foods Sdn Bhd.

The offence allegedly took place on Dec 13, 2023, at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

The offence falls under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act, and if found guilty, Asnida could face up to five years in jail and a fine of not more than RM100,000.

Prosecution was conducted by MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat, while Asnida was represented by Muhammad Nizamuddin Abdul Hamid.

Yesterday, Asnida gave her statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya. - April 7, 2026
