A KEYNOTE address by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki was briefly disrupted today after two activists staged a protest during an event at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

They carried placards and chanted slogans as Azam began speaking at the Wacana Ilmiah Perdana programme today at 2.45pm.

The disturbance lasted only briefly before authorities removed the two individuals involved.

The two men allegedly entered the hall holding placards bearing the words “Tangkap Azam Baki”, referencing an ongoing activist campaign calling for action against the MACC chief.

Tensions escalated when one of the individuals shouted and moved towards the front of the stage, briefly interrupting proceedings and drawing the attention of security personnel.

According to reports, the two men were later identified by activist group Mandiri as Hamdin Nordin, who is also linked to the Liga Rakyat Demokratik and another activist known as Ahsanul.

Despite the disruption, Azam remained composed and even lightened the mood, saying, "Don't switch your TV channel."

In a statement shared on social media, Mandiri claimed both individuals were detained following the incident and called for their immediate release.
