POLICE have reclassified the investigation into the case involving the late Private Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi, 24, as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, said police have applied for a post-mortem to be carried out to begin the investigation after the victim was confirmed dead at 9.34 am today.

"The investigation process under Section 302 of the Penal Code is being carried out by reclassifying the investigation paper under Section 325 of the Penal Code that was opened previously.

"The application to conduct a post-mortem has been made, and the police will re-examine the statements taken previously and, if necessary, continue recording the witness statements," he said in a statement today.

It was earlier reported that the late Muhammad Amirul Raziq breathed his last while receiving treatment at a hospital in Temerloh, Pahang.

On March 31, the deceased was believed to have been severely beaten by a suspect with the rank of Corporal, allegedly for being dissatisfied with the cleaning work of the weapons store.

The Army Public Relations Cell, in a statement, announced that based on initial investigations, a Junior Non-Commissioned Officer (PTTR) used force by slapping and punching seven members of the camp in the face and stomach.

The investigation also found that there were six other victims aged between 19 and 22 years old who were with him during the incident.

On April 6, a military member with the rank of Corporal pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court, Bentong, Pahang, to seven charges of injuring another member last month. – April 11, 2026
