A 13-YEAR-OLD Form One student was killed after she was believed to have been struck by a vehicle inside a school compound here on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Nur Fatimatul Hawa Mohd Azaudin, was confirmed dead at the scene at about 1.30pm due to severe injuries sustained in the incident.

It is understood that the teenager had just finished performing congregational Zohor prayers and was putting on her shoes when she was hit by a Honda car within the school premises.

Her father, Mohd Azaudin Abdullah, 43, said he was at work when he received a distressing call from his sister-in-law, who was crying and urging him to rush to his daughter’s school.

“I immediately went to the school and at that time I saw my daughter lying motionless and she had been placed in the surau. I was shocked and devastated to see that she had already passed away.

“The school informed me that my daughter had died. However, I was not given further details by the school regarding the incident that happened to her.

“She was my third child, and all my children have been staying with my sister-in-law since my wife passed away five years ago,” he said when met at the Forensic Unit of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.

He added that since his wife’s death, he would meet his children twice a week at his sister-in-law’s home.

“The body will be buried at the Tanjong Mas Muslim Cemetery after the post-mortem is completed,” he said.

The victim’s aunt, Zuraifah Mohd Noor, 43, said she had been waiting outside the school compound to pick up the victim and another sibling when the incident occurred.

“I was puzzled when Fatimatul Hawa did not come out as she usually leaves earlier than others.

“Suddenly, my niece, who is 15 and attends the same school, ran towards me and told me her younger sister was gone.

“I rushed towards the surau and at that time my niece’s body was already covered with a cloth,” she said.

Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri confirmed the incident when contacted, saying further details would be released later. - April 12, 2026
