THE teacher who is believed to have crashed into two students in front of the school's surau, resulting in the death of a Form One female student yesterday afternoon in Kota Bahru, has been remanded for two days.

A remand order against the 57-year-old female teacher from today until tomorrow was issued by Magistrate Wan Muhammad Izzat Wan Abdullah.

The remand was made to enable further investigation to be carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

It was earlier reported that a Form One female student died, while another was seriously injured after being rammed by a vehicle driven by a female teacher in front of the Tanjung Mas National Secondary School (SMK) surau.

Kota Bharu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri, reportedly said the incident at 1.50 pm involved a car driver and the victims were two female students.

He said initial investigations found that the female driver was believed to have pressed the gas pedal and the vehicle skidded before hitting two female students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tanjung Mas.

As a result of the incident, one victim died at the scene due to serious head injuries, while the other was seriously injured and was receiving treatment at the hospital. – April 13, 2026
