DATUK Mubarak Thahak, who was removed from his position as the Undang Luak Sungei Ujong, along with five others, filed an originating summons to suspend the implementation of the decision of the special meeting of the Negri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) on April 17.
Apart from Mubarak, the other five who acted as plaintiffs in the summons are the Undang Luak Jelebu, Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad; Undang Luak Johol, Datuk Muhammed Abdullah; Undang Luak Rembau, Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin; Tunku Besar Tampin, Tunku Syed Razman Ibni Almarhum Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri and Shahbandar Sungei Ujong, Datuk Seri Utama Badarudin Abdul Khalid.
They named the DKU Secretary, Raja Norazli Raja Nordin, the DKU and the Sembilan state government as defendants in the originating summons filed yesterday through law firm, Deidra Sharina & Co.
According to reports in Berita Harian, through the originating summons, the applicant is seeking a declaration that they, as DKU Members, are entitled to be provided with a copy of the official minutes of a special meeting held on April 17 at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, which purportedly led to Mubarak’s removal.
In addition, the plaintiff is seeking an order that the first and second defendants, themselves or their agents, submit and hand over to them the minutes within seven days.
Also sought is an order to suspend the implementation of any enforcement by the defendants relating to the decision of the DKU special meeting dated April 17 until the minutes are handed over to them.
They also applied for costs and other relief or orders deemed just and proper by the court.
The plaintiff also applied for the originating summons to be heard urgently, through an application by lawyer Asmawi Ismail.
Through a supporting affidavit sworn by Muhammed, he said on April 16, he, along with the second, fifth and sixth plaintiffs, had received a letter of invitation from the second defendant dated April 15, 2026, to attend the DKU special meeting the following day at Istana Besar Seri Menanti.
No agenda was attached
He said the invitation was outside the normal course of the second defendant's proceedings, where normally, meeting invitations would be issued at least one week before the meeting date to allow meeting members to adjust their official schedules.
He said that according to the invitation, the meeting was called to hear a complaint report from Telaga Undang Luak Sungei Ujong in relation to the first plaintiff.
"We emphasise that this time, no meeting agenda was attached to the invitation letter dated 17 April 2026, signed by the first defendant as the Secretary of the second defendant.
"We also emphasise that the absence of an agenda for this meeting is also outside the normal DKU proceedings because normally, the meeting agenda, notes and minutes of previous DKU meetings will also be submitted to the members at least three days before the meeting date to enable members to make thorough preparations.
"Although the call to attend this DKU special meeting is urgent, we state that at least the meeting agenda should be prepared and forwarded by the DKU to all members in advance," he said.
Muhammed said that the first and fourth plaintiffs did not receive any invitation letter from the second defendant to attend the meeting. – May 5, 2026
