HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, personally piloted a speedboat around the waters of Mersing on Wednesday in a hands-on inspection reflecting His Majesty’s strong concern for marine conservation and environmental sustainability.

According to a post shared on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page, the King also dived underwater during the visit to observe conditions beneath the sea surface and assess the surrounding marine ecosystem firsthand.

The visit underscored His Majesty’s longstanding emphasis on protecting coastal environments, preserving marine biodiversity and maintaining beach cleanliness across the country.

Earlier in the day, Sultan Ibrahim stopped at the Midway Rest and Recreation area in Dusun Panti, Kota Tinggi, where His Majesty had breakfast and enjoyed a serving of traditional lontong.

Members of the public at the rest stop were caught by surprise by the royal visit, with many taking the opportunity to greet the King and capture photographs with His Majesty.

The outing further highlighted His Majesty’s reputation for engaging directly with local communities while actively championing issues linked to environmental stewardship and national heritage preservation. - May 20, 2026
