AUTHORITIES are investigating a viral incident involving a man caught driving while a woman, believed to be his partner, sat facing him inside the moving vehicle without a seatbelt.

The case, now circulating widely on Threads and other social media platforms, has drawn swift attention from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), which confirmed that enforcement action is underway.

JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said both the driver and the passenger will be held accountable once investigations are completed.

“Action will be taken against both parties. The investigation is ongoing, and compounds will be issued accordingly,” he said.

Footage from the incident shows the woman perched on the front passenger side, facing the driver and leaning back against the dashboard — a dangerous position that has since sparked outrage online.

Netizens have slammed the pair for reckless behaviour, pointing out the serious risk posed not just to themselves, but to others on the road. – June 3, 2026
