A CATASTROPHIC early morning fire has completely destroyed eight residential properties in Kampung Seberang Alor, located within the Royal Village of Kuala Perlis.

The Perlis Fire and Rescue Department launched an immediate emergency operation after receiving a distress call regarding the incident at three thirty-eight in the morning.

Operation Commander Assistant Fire Superintendent Nor Ahmad Zaki Ashrafi Nor Azli stated that a team of seventeen personnel from the Kuala Perlis and Kangar Fire and Rescue Stations was dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving the report.

The containment effort was significantly reinforced by thirty volunteer firefighters from Simpang Empat, Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis, and Pauh, alongside an auxiliary firefighter.

Upon arrival at the location, the teams discovered that the fire had already engulfed eight homes, while a motorcycle was also completely incinerated by the flames, Nor Ahmad Zaki said in an official statement.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze from spreading to adjacent structures before successfully extinguishing the fire entirely at four forty in the morning.

Perlis Fire and Rescue Department Director Wan Mohd Hamizi Wan Mohd Zin confirmed that the disaster resulted in no human casualties or injuries, and a specialized fire forensics team has been deployed to conduct a detailed investigation at the site.

The actual cause of the fire and the total value of the losses incurred remain under investigation, Wan Mohd Hamizi said. - June 13, 2026
