THE enduring and unified cooperation between the Federal Government and the state remains a vital foundation for ensuring that Sabah continues to move forward, prosper, and enjoy more balanced and inclusive development.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed this conviction following a meeting with the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, during a dinner at Istana Seri Kinabalu yesterday, which marked the conclusion of his one-day working visit to the state.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the engagement served as a platform to deliberate on strategic priorities aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of the region.

"We exchanged views on various issues affecting the future of Sabah, including the state's development agenda, economic strengthening, social well-being, and efforts to improve the people's standard of living," he stated in a post on Facebook.

The visit was punctuated by high-impact engagements designed to bridge connectivity and social divides, notably the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sabah Southern MADANI Link project.

This infrastructure initiative is viewed as a cornerstone for enhancing the state's logistical network and economic resilience.

Additionally, the Prime Minister officiated the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Unity Week celebrations, emphasizing the role of social harmony in underpinning the state's progress.

By aligning federal resources with state aspirations, the current administration seeks to rectify developmental imbalances, ensuring that the benefits of national growth reach every level of Sabahan society. - June 14, 2026
