THE Kuala Lumpur High Court has granted an interim ex-parte injunction against Wan Muhammad Azri bin Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, in a civil action brought by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The order restrains Wan Azri from publishing any statements deemed defamatory against MCMC and requires him to immediately cease the publication and dissemination of harmful online content across social media platforms.
The court further ruled that he is prohibited from using any social media platform to circulate content that is false, misleading or harmful, whether through existing or newly created accounts.
The interim injunction remains in force until the inter partes hearing or further order of the court.
The action follows a letter of demand issued by MCMC on April 9, 2026, over alleged publication of false content claiming that the commission had blocked MalaysiaGazette news reports.
MCMC also said Wan Azri had repeatedly used social media accounts to disseminate content deemed harmful online.
The civil action and injunction are grounded in existing laws addressing online content that may affect public interest, social harmony and confidence in public institutions. - June 24, 2026
