A MALAYSIAN live-stream sales host identified as Ah Ling, 30, has claimed she was driven into depression, insomnia and loss of appetite after what she describes as an escalating campaign of cyberbullying, personal attacks and false accusations involving two men also active in the online sales industry.
She said the sustained harassment had become so severe that she once experienced suicidal thoughts, describing the emotional toll of the incident.
“I lost my appetite, had difficulty sleeping and became depressed to the point I had thoughts of killing myself due to the pressure of being a victim of cyberbullying and personal attacks,” she said.
Ah Ling alleged that the attacks were designed to boost online engagement and follower counts, claiming the individuals involved had spread falsehoods and threatened her safety.
According to her, the harassment began after she previously collaborated with one of the men in a live-stream selling seafood and herbal products.
She claimed that after the collaboration, the individual accused her of underpricing goods and damaging the market, before allegedly issuing threats of physical violence and death, including claims that he would “teach her a lesson”.
Ah Ling further alleged that the man and his wife spread defamatory accusations about her personal life, including claims that she was involved in an extramarital relationship, acted as a “third party” in a marriage, and behaved inappropriately at a nightclub.
She also claimed she was accused of borrowing money from loan sharks in Muar, Johor, and still owing large sums, as well as being involved in theft of personal information.
In addition, she alleged that the pair circulated claims that intimate images and private videos of her existed, including so-called “nude photographs” allegedly sent privately to their followers.
However, Ah Ling strongly denied the allegations, saying the woman in the circulated images only bore a resemblance to her and was not her, while the purported video evidence was merely a screenshot with no actual footage existing.
“I believe they deliberately damaged my reputation and fabricated these accusations purely to gain more views and attention. Unfortunately, many netizens believed the claims, and even my family members were mocked in public,” Harian Metro quoted her saying.
She added that she has been forced to stop live-streaming for about seven days, resulting in an estimated income loss of at least RM70,000.
Ah Ling also claimed that one of the individuals involved was a former employer, with whom she previously worked for about two years, where he served as lead host while she acted as assistant host.
She said that after he started his own business, he invited her to collaborate again, but disputes later arose over payments and operational costs.
In that dispute, she alleged she was accused of owing RM30,000, while she claimed he still owed her RM30,650 in unpaid commissions.
Ah Ling said she has lodged a police report at the Cheras police station on Tuesday for further investigation. - July 3, 2026
