A FEMALE Form Three student who was stabbed at a secondary school in Banting today suffered serious injuries after it is believed that she was stabbed between 14 and 16 times.

The matter was stated by her father, Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, who said that most of the stab wounds hit the back of the body and face, causing his daughter's left lung to be injured.

"The left lung was also affected, and now the doctor is inserting a tube to drain the blood," he said at the Banting Hospital.

According to Mohd Firuz, he only found out about the incident involving his second of three siblings after receiving a call from the victim's teacher at about 9.30 am.

“As soon as I received the call, I immediately rushed to the hospital. When I arrived, I saw that the child was in a serious condition.

“I was informed that there were between 14 and 16 stab wounds on the back of the body and face,” he said.

He said that his child is now conscious and can speak.

According to him, the victim knew the 15-year-old suspect because they had studied in the same class during Form Two.

“I was informed that the suspect is currently on ‘leave’ for personal treatment. I am not sure whether she has a grudge against my child or not.

“I don’t think my child was the target, but happened to be near the suspect during the incident. The child has also never complained of being harassed by the suspect before,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Education Department confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody and it is extending its full cooperation to the authorities in the ongoing investigation.

“The main priority now is to ensure the injured student receives the best possible care while assisting the student’s family.

“A team of counselling teachers has been mobilised to provide psychosocial support and intervention for students, teaching staff and employees of the affected school,” it said in a statement.

The department also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could affect the ongoing investigation. – July 6, 2026
