MUAR Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today completed his nearly 170-kilometre Thanksgiving Run from Putrajaya to Muar, concluding a four-day charity initiative that drew thousands of supporters and significantly exceeded its fundraising target.

Syed Saddiq crossed the finish line at Laman Maharani at approximately 9.15am after setting off on July 16 from the Palace of Justice in Precinct 3, Putrajaya.

Thousands of Muar residents, who had gathered from around 8am, welcomed his arrival after he began the final 17-kilometre stretch from Simpang Sungai Rambai at 7am.

Supporters greeted him with chants of "Hidup Muar, Hidup Muar" and "Tahniah YB" as he completed the journey.

The final leg of the run took just over two hours, with Syed Saddiq joined by several running groups, including Muo Runner.

The charity mission took him across Negeri Sembilan and Melaka before reaching Johor, symbolising both gratitude and resilience following the conclusion of legal proceedings that cleared his name.

In addition to its symbolic significance, the run was organised to raise funds for welfare initiatives benefiting residents in the Muar parliamentary constituency.

Proceeds from the campaign will be channelled towards two primary initiatives: providing food baskets for underprivileged families and purchasing iPads for students who require digital devices to support their education.

As of yesterday, the campaign had raised RM361,848 within two days, comfortably surpassing its original fundraising target of RM200,000.

On July 13, the Federal Court acquitted Syed Saddiq of two charges of abetting criminal breach of trust, one charge of dishonest misappropriation of property and two counts of money laundering involving funds belonging to ARMADA, the youth wing of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU). - July 19, 2026
