NEGERI Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has questioned Barisan Nasional's (BN) ability to deliver sustained economic growth, saying the current state administration has already achieved investment figures that almost equal the coalition's five-year target.
He said BN's manifesto pledge to attract RM30 billion in investments over five years should be judged against the Unity Government's actual performance, which has surpassed expectations in a significantly shorter timeframe.
According to Aminuddin, Negeri Sembilan recorded RM19.1 billion in approved investments in 2025, with an additional RM13 billion secured during the first half of this year.
"In just one and a half years, we have already achieved a figure that is almost the same as what they are promising over five years. Just imagine that.
"Do they want to move backwards or forwards? What exactly are they planning for our children and grandchildren?" he said while addressing a meet-and-greet session with the Indian community in Air Kuning on Saturday night.
Aminuddin urged voters to evaluate governments based on their planning, implementation and tangible achievements rather than election promises alone.
He also defended the state government's tourism development strategy, saying efforts to promote Negeri Sembilan's heritage, traditional cuisine and eco-tourism attractions had drawn unnecessary criticism from political opponents.
He said development initiatives in areas such as Kuala Pilah and Jelebu had been carefully planned to preserve the state's natural environment and cultural identity while creating new economic opportunities through sustainable tourism.
"Today we are promoting Negeri Sembilan cuisine, masak lemak cili api. We are introducing the world to how exceptional this dish is.
"In Jelebu, we have introduced the Kenaboi Forest Reserve and developed the area as a recreational destination. There is no need to cut down the forest, because it is the forest itself that contributes to the state's revenue," he said.
Aminuddin also accused the opposition of prioritising political power over presenting a credible vision for the state's future development.
"They are only thinking about one thing, and I do not know what it is. All they want today is power," he said. - July 27, 2026
