TWO podcasters have been remanded for two days as police continue investigations into an episode that allegedly triggered complaints over racial and religious sensitivities.
The Klang Magistrate’s Court today granted the remand order for Let’s Get It Podcast producer Brian Kong and The Gut Shot Podcast producer Shamsul Saad, who were arrested on Thursday.
The investigation follows the circulation of excerpts from the podcast episode on two TikTok accounts.
Police received complaints alleging the clips contained elements that could stir racial and religious tensions.
The case is being investigated under several laws, including the Sedition Act 1948, the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Brian was arrested at his home at about 5 pm on Thursday by a team of police officers.
He was later taken to the North Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD Klang Utara) for questioning.
Police later brought him back to his residence, where several electronic devices, including his laptop and mobile phone, were seized for forensic examination.
Shamsul, meanwhile, arrived at IPD Klang Utara, accompanied by lawyer Siti Kasim and gave his cooperation to investigators.
Both men spent the night in police custody before being brought to court today for the remand hearing.
Police had sought a four-day remand, saying more time was needed to record statements, examine the seized devices, verify witness accounts and obtain access to encrypted materials linked to the investigation.
The defence objected to the application.
After hearing submissions from both sides, the magistrate granted a two-day remand instead.
The two podcasters will remain in custody at IPD Klang Utara until the remand period ends while police continue their investigations.
They are being investigated under, among others, Section 298, Section 504 and Section 505(c) of the Penal Code, Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, as well as provisions under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – August 7, 2026
