THE National Day 2026 parade at Dataran Putrajaya will go ahead on Monday if haze conditions remain at current levels, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today.

He said the decision was reached following a meeting involving the Malaysian Meteorological Department, Department of Environment, Health Ministry and Education Ministry, which are members of the main committee for the National Day celebrations.

“We have decided that if conditions remain as they are this morning and yesterday, we will proceed with the event on Monday,” he told a press conference after the full rehearsal for the National Day 2026 celebrations in Putrajaya today.

Fahmi said the haze situation would continue to be assessed from time to time, including the possibility of cloud seeding to help manage weather conditions.

He said any cloud-seeding operation would be coordinated by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

However, Fahmi said cloud seeding would depend on the availability of suitable clouds and would be subject to assessment by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

The National Day celebrations are scheduled to take place at Dataran Putrajaya on Monday, marking Malaysia’s 69th National Day. - August 29, 2026
