FORMER minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom has claimed trial to three charges of allegedly causing Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) to dispose of assets worth RM860.31 million in three transactions between 2015 and 2017.

Jamil Khir, 65, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court judge Rosli Ahmad in on Monday.

“Not guilty and claim trial,” he said while standing in the dock.

The charges allege that Jamil Khir, who was then the minister in charge of religious affairs, caused TH to dispose of assets worth RM42.94 million, RM288.17 million and RM529.19 million to Al-Rawda Real Estate Development and Projects Management Co Ltd.

The alleged offences took place on April 3, 2015, Dec 14, 2016 and Aug 17, 2017 at his office at the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) in Putrajaya and the Putrajaya Islamic Complex.

All three charges were brought under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment of between six months and five years, whipping and a fine upon conviction. - September 14, 2026
