MALAYSIAN Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain will continue performing his duties as usual unless instructed otherwise by the relevant authorities, his lawyer said today.

Datuk Rosal Azimin Ahmad said no directive had been issued to prevent Mohd Shuhaily from continuing in his role as a civil servant, despite facing two charges in court.

“Until now, in the absence of any directive, he will continue to carry out his duties as usual,” Rosal told reporters after the proceedings at the Sepang Sessions and Magistrates’ Court.

He said any decision on Mohd Shuhaily’s position in the public service would be left to the relevant administrative authorities.

The court granted Mohd Shuhaily bail of RM1,500 for each charge, bringing the total to RM3,000 with one surety.

The amount was lower than the RM5,000 per charge, or RM10,000 in total, proposed by the prosecution.

Rosal said the bail process had been completed, with the next mention of the case fixed for Nov 25.

The defence is awaiting documents from the prosecution under Section 51A of the Criminal Procedure Code. - October 21, 2026
