POLICE have recorded statements from 24 people in connection with an incident at a private school in Kuching, while the suspect remains hospitalised and investigations continue subject to medical advice.

Sarawak acting police commissioner Deputy Commissioner Saifullizan Ishak (pic) said those questioned included the complainant, victim, medical personnel, officers involved in the arrest and seizure, parents of the person under investigation, a family driver, school representatives and students.

“The police are continuing investigative action while taking into account the suspect’s health condition and subject to the advice and assessment of medical officers, while ensuring compliance with all applicable legal procedures,” he said in a statement.

Saifullizan said the investigation was being conducted professionally, carefully and comprehensively, taking into account all relevant statements and evidence.

“Any further action will be taken based on the facts obtained and the applicable provisions of the law,” he said.

He also urged the public to respect the privacy of the victim and students involved, and not to circulate identities, photographs or personal information that could lead to anyone being identified, particularly minors.

“The Royal Malaysia Police also takes seriously the sensitivities of all parties, particularly the welfare of the victim and students involved,” he said.

Saifullizan said Sarawak police remained committed to ensuring the investigation was conducted fairly, objectively and in accordance with the rule of law. - October 23, 2026
