A LEBANESE jewellery company is identifying and tracing assets belonging to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to enforce a court judgment ordering her to pay RM67.46 million over the loss of 43 pieces of jewellery.
Lawyer Datuk David Gurupatham, representing Global Royalty Trading SAL, said the company was in the process of identifying assets that might belong to Rosmah before filing the necessary documents to begin enforcement proceedings.
“We are in the process of identifying and tracing any assets she may own so that we can enforce the judgment.
“We will file the necessary documents soon,” he said when contacted today.
David also said Rosmah had not appealed the Court of Appeal’s Sept 23 decision rejecting her application for an unconditional stay of payment pending the hearing of her substantive appeal.
He said the 30-day period to file an appeal against that decision had expired.
On Sept 23, the Court of Appeal rejected Rosmah’s application for an unconditional stay of execution in the civil suit brought by Global Royalty over 43 missing jewellery items. The court found no exceptional circumstances warranting such an order and also directed her to pay RM30,000 in costs.
On Aug 12, the High Court had allowed a stay of execution on condition that Rosmah deposit the judgment sum into a joint stakeholder account managed by lawyers for both parties within one month.
Rosmah subsequently sought an unconditional stay from the Court of Appeal so she would not have to make the deposit while awaiting the hearing of her main appeal, scheduled for March 25 next year.
On June 10, the High Court ordered Rosmah to pay RM67,461,027.37 to Global Royalty after finding her liable for the loss of 43 jewellery items belonging to the company.
Global Royalty filed the suit on March 29, 2023, concerning 44 pieces of jewellery, including diamond necklaces, bracelets and a tiara, which it claimed had been sent to Rosmah on consignment through its agent in 2018. - October 28, 2026
