THREE people have been arrested after a 35-year-old man suffered a broken right leg when he was allegedly rammed by a car during a physical altercation linked to a money-lending dispute in Skudai yesterday.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said police received a report on the incident outside a supermarket in Taman Pulai Utama at 6.38pm.

He said the three local suspects, comprising a man and two women aged between 34 and 53, were detained to assist investigations.

Police also seized a Proton Saga believed to have been involved in the incident and are tracking down several other individuals suspected of participating in the altercation.

"Preliminary investigations found that the fight involved people who knew one another and stemmed from a disagreement over a money-lending matter," he said in a statement.

The victim was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Radin Ramlan said urine tests on all three suspects returned negative results for drugs, while checks found that none had previous criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 307 for attempted murder.

A video of the incident went viral yesterday, showing a motorcyclist falling to the ground before being struck by a Proton Saga driven by a man, leaving his right leg visibly limp. - October 31, 2026
