PARENTS will be able to access information on more than 10,000 schools nationwide through the newly launched SekolahKu portal, developed to bring school-related information together on a single platform.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the portal, developed by GovTech Malaysia in collaboration with the Education Ministry, would provide a more consistent and accessible source of information for parents and the public.

He said the initiative was also intended to prevent duplication of efforts, as schools had previously developed their own digital platforms to share information, resulting in multiple systems with different formats and services.

“We want to provide a single platform offering consistent services for all schools nationwide, with information accessible through that platform,” he said at the handover ceremony of the portal to the Education Ministry at Sekolah Kebangsaan Damansara Utama today.

Gobind said the portal would include rural schools to ensure that no educational institution was excluded from the country's digitalisation efforts.

He added that the Education Ministry could work with schools to provide the information needed to make the portal comprehensive.

Separately, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said a new curriculum for Form One and Year One pupils would be introduced next year, with an emphasis on safe and ethical use of digital platforms and artificial intelligence (AI).

She said pupils would be taught to develop digital skills and use applications and AI responsibly, rather than rely on the technology simply to provide answers.

“We do not want children merely to depend on AI to get answers, but to learn how to ask better questions,” she said.

Fadhlina also announced an allocation of RM50,000 to support school improvements and development, and encouraged parent-teacher associations to apply for maintenance assistance through the designated online link. - November 3, 2026
