LOCAL manufacturers and suppliers stand to gain greater access to international markets through Daiso's new RM1.2 billion Global Distribution Centre (GDC), which is expected to connect local products to 27 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the facility presented an opportunity for more Malaysian-made products to enter international markets through the Japanese retailer's global distribution network.
He said local manufacturers and suppliers could use the network to expand their market reach and strengthen the competitiveness of Malaysian products.
The centre, operated by Daiso Malaysia Group Sdn Bhd, will serve as a major logistics hub connecting production networks in Japan, China and other international suppliers to markets across Asia and the Middle East.
Anwar said the RM1.2 billion private-sector investment also reflected continued international investor confidence in Malaysia's potential as a regional logistics and distribution hub.
Beyond strengthening the country's position in regional supply chains and trade, the facility is expected to stimulate the logistics sector and create new high-value employment opportunities.
He said the government wanted every investment to generate added value for the domestic economy, strengthen industrial capabilities and widen economic opportunities for Malaysians.
Anwar added that investor confidence reflected the government's continued efforts to provide a conducive business environment, clear policies and a competitive economic ecosystem. - November 5, 2026
