KUALA LUMPUR – Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd is offering customers affected by floods a loan moratorium of up to six months.

In a statement today, the bank said the initiative, named the Prihatin Programme, is aimed at easing flood victims’ financial burden to pay their monthly commitment.

The moratorium is subject to the conditions set under the Bank Islam house financing, personal financing, and vehicle financing facilities.

Chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the wellbeing of the communities has always been one of Bank Islam’s priorities, especially with the severe flood situation and Covid-19 pandemic plaguing the country.

“We hope this programme can help relieve their anxieties over their financial commitment during this difficult period,” he said, adding that application for the moratorium can be made at any Bank Islam branches.

For more information on the Prihatin Programme, customers can contact the Bank Islam contact centre at 03 2690 0900. – Bernama, January 8, 2021
